UN Day was celebrated on 24 October at the magnificent Darbar Hall, Raj Bhawan Malabar Hill, Mumbai.
H.E. Mr. Mohammed Fazal, Governor of Maharashtra was the Chief Guest and he presided over this function.
The Guest of Honour was the Hon’ble Chief Justice, Mr. Dalveer Bhandari of the High Court of Judicator at Bombay. The other guest speakers were Mr. Vijaysinh Anandrao Thorat, Advocate-General of Maharashtra, High Court at Bombay, and Mr. Maartin D. Reuchlin, Consul General of the Netherlands.
Mrs. Pheroza J. Godrej, President, delivered the Welcome Address. Mrs. Mohini Mathur reported on the activities of the Association and she also introduced the Chief Guest. Mr. K.M Abraham introduced the other guest speakers.
Soon after the formal function, a cultural programme was presented. We are thankful and grateful to Zonta Club of Bombay III for arranging the entertainment programme by the students of the Helen Keller Institute for the Deaf and the Blind. The students performed the welcome dance and a mime. A music and dance programme was performed by various cultural organizations from Mumbai, directed by Mr. Yogesh Sanghvi.
Certificates were presented to the participants of the various cultural programmes. The Army Band was in attendance.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. A.A.Syed followed by the National Anthem.
Refreshments were served on the well manicured lawns of Raj Bhawan.
