Human Rights Day 2003 was observed at Centrum Hall, World Trade Centre, Mumbai on 10 December 2003 at 5:30 pm
The Hon’ble Mr. Justice S.S.Parker of the Mumbai High Court was the Chief Guest, and he presided over the function.
The Guests of Honour were: H.E.Mr. Magued Fouad, Consul General of Egypt and Dean of the Consular Corps; Dr. B.L Mungekar, Vice Chancellor, University of Mumbai; Mr. Mihir Desai, Sr. Advocate, Supreme Court & Executive Director, India Centre for Human Rights and Law, and Mr. Haresh Jagtiani, Sr. Advocate Supreme Court.
The UN Day programme was flagged off with a Welcome Address by Mrs. Pheroza J. Godrej, Presidednt. The guests were introduced by Ms. Mohini Mathur. After the presentation of flowers and the signing of the visitor’s book, the activities of the Association were reported by Dr. G.N.Chainani.
The function included a unique session i.e. the felicitation of the newly appointed Additional Judges at the High Court at Mumbai. The Judges felicitated were: -
- Mr. Justice Abhay S. Oka
- Mr. Justice S.R. Sathe
- Mr. Justice Anoop V. Mehta
- Mr. Justice S.C. Dharamadhikari
After the speeches made by the Judges, Mr. A. A. Syed delivered the Vote of Thanks and the programme concluded with refreshments.
The programme was concluded by vote of thanks by Mr. A.A.Syed after the speeches of the guests and felicitation function followed by refreshments.
It was because of the interest and efforts made by our Secretary, Mr. Vinay Rathi that we were able to ensure the presence of the abovementioned Judges. |
